Cherokee Historical Association will host the 8th Annual Trail of Tears Memorial Walk on Saturday November 1, 2014. This will also be the start of a CHA membership drive.
The walk begins at the Main Office located at 564 Tsali Blvd. (across the street from the Museum of the Cherokee Indian) and continues along the Cherokee River Loop Trail on Acquoni Road, back to Tsali Blvd. onto Drama Road and ending at the Oconaluftee Indian Village.
You may pick up a registration form at our office or call Linda at 828-497-1125. Membership information is available as well.
Coffee and a light snack will be provided starting at 9:30 with an opening program and walk beginning at 10:00. Water will be provided along the walking route.
Joining the Cherokee Historical Association Membership is a wonderful way of supporting us and our mission statement which is “To perpetuate and preserve the history and culture of the Cherokee people”. The Trail of Tears Walk is just one of many ways we remember those during such a dark time in history. Through your continued support we are able to honor the past while we secure a place for the future.
