Congrats to the Omni Grove Park Inn on being named Southern Living’s Best Resort of the South, and on the Grand Bohemian Hotel’s 10 year anniversary. In other news, Rotarians Against Hunger is looking for volunteers and Friday Staffing has several new job opportunities! Read more below.

Achievement

  • Southern Living released its “The South’s Best” List and Asheville was featured all over. The Omni Grove Park Inn was named best resort. The Inn on Biltmore Estate was named the number 2 hotel. The Thirsty Monk landed at number 10 on the list of best bars. Asheville chef Katie Button rounded out the list of best chefs at number 10. Asheville also placed number 5 on the list of best overall cities. Lastly, Asheville was ranked number 6 on the list of best food cities. Woohoo!
  • Congrats to the Grand Bohemian Hotel on celebrating its 10 year anniversary. There will be a celebration at the hotel on March 28 from 5-7 p.m.
  • The Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) Western North Carolina Chapter has been named a 2019 Ten Star Chapter. Every year, AFP, the largest association of professional fundraisers in the world, honors chapters for achieving goals that align with key objectives in its long-range strategic plan. Chapters receive the Ten Star Award for performing specific activities designed to increase professionalism within fundraising and public awareness of the importance of philanthropy.

  • AdventHealth Hendersonville is excited to name Mary Hackney CDM, DTR as its new Nutritional Services Director. Hackney has more than eight years of comprehensive experience in nutritional services, prior to her role with AdventHealth. Hackney earned her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Western Carolina University in 2011. Before becoming the Nutritional Service Director for AdventHealth Hendersonville, Mary worked as the Food Service Director for Complete Care/Accordius Health Asheville.

  • The New Belgium Liquid Center will be venue sponsor for Kickoff of Conscious Capitalism Asheville, new community of international non-profit Conscious Capitalism Inc. This interactive event brings together a unique community of like-minded individuals, organizations and initiatives in the Asheville area. It is focused on supporting businesses interested in giving equal attention to a higher purpose and embracing all stakeholders while boosting a thriving financial business. The Conscious Capitalism movement gathers together those who want to explore, learn, advocate and elevate their business and personal consciousness.

Opportunity

  • RATP Dev USA is hosting two job fairs on Saturday 3/16 & Saturday 3/23 10am-2pm for the ART Asheville Transit System. There will be on the spot interviews and offer for qualified and quality CDL bus operators. Paid training will offer $11.25 an hour and $17.02 an hour after training.

Promotion

  • In celebration of National Athletic Training Month, the Henderson County Board of Commissioners will designate March 15 as Athletic Training Day in Henderson County. To commemorate the designation, Henderson County Commissioner Chairman Grady Hawkins will sign a proclamation and recognize the Pardee UNC Health Care Sports Medicine program and its Athletic Trainers.
