Starting and operating a small business isn’t easy. Small business owner Molly Gaffney-Keebler compares it to running a race. It takes training, perseverance and a willingness to work hard to reach your goal.
“As a runner, I’ve experienced the trials of racing and those of opening a business. In both instances, I’ve had to work hard to overcome obstacles, but the rewards far outweigh the challenges.”
Molly is local owner of Spherion Staffing, our Small Business of the Month. She and her team have been serving the workforce needs of businesses throughout Asheville and the surrounding areas since 2016.
Founded in 1946, Spherion provides recruiting and staffing services to companies throughout the U.S. Operating through a network of individually owned offices, Spherion provides a highly personalized level of support to the clients and candidates they serve. Specializing in administrative, light industrial, call center, non-clinical healthcare and professional placements, Spherion fills a wide range of flexible and direct-hire positions.
“Spherion is a staffing company focused on the growth and success of our community,” says Molly. “People are the heart of our business and it’s very rewarding to play a part in the employment process. The satisfaction of finding the perfect candidate for a client or helping someone find a job that makes a real difference in their life is worth every bit of effort you put into it.”
Molly shares this advice for other small businesses, “Utilize the resources within your community and get involved! The Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce has given me support, encouragement and resources to help me succeed. I have not only made client connections, but have made true, lifelong friends all from my Chamber membership. Being involved in the community has enabled us to build great relationships.”
It’s clear Molly and her team care about the people and businesses of the community, extending beyond the services they provide.
“We make it a priority to roll-up our sleeves and get involved,” Molly says. “Every year, we participate in the Spherion Community Giveback Program, designed to support local organizations that are near and dear to our heart. Last year, we chose Homeward Bound of WNC as the recipient of our giveback contribution. It’s another way we’ve been able to make a difference. ”
