Saturdays at ACT presents a double feature

January 27, 2014

Asheville Community Theatre (ACT) presents two plays back to back in their family-friendly series, Saturdays at ACT. On Saturday, February 15, 2014, two different plays produced by Attic Salt Theatre Company. A performance of Feet Water will begin at 9:30 am followed by a performance of The Sultan’s Wife at 11:00 am. In addition to the two performances, ACT will host activities in the lobby prior to and after the shows.  Tickets are $5.00 for each show and are available for purchase at the door, over the phone, or online at www.ashevilletheatre.org.

Feet Water is a funny Irish folktale with a funny name! Puppets, masks and a whole lot of audience participation will keep even your youngest kids laughing. Music and comedy are in great abundance in The Sultan’s Wife, an adaptation of a Swahili folktale. This engaging fable focuses on a hapless sultan, his too-smart servant and a poor man who knows the secret to keeping those around him happy. Feet Water and The Sultan’s Wife are both produced by Attic Salt Theatre Company, a professional theatre company based in Asheville, NC.

In addition to the plays, the Saturdays at ACT event will feature complimentary face-painting and balloon animals as well as a craft station before and after the show. In between the two shows, The Hop will be scooping ice cream. Pre-show activities will begin at 8:30 am.

“We had a huge turnout for our last Saturdays at ACT program,” said Chanda Calentine, Program Director at ACT.  “We hope that even more families will join us at the theatre for shows and all the other fun activities!”
