Run or volunteer for the Thomas Wolfe 8K

October 8, 2012

RiverLink is a proud sponsor of the 36th Annual Thomas Wolfe 8K, which winds its way through historic Riverside Cemetery, the beautiful Montford Neighborhood, and vibrant downtown Asheville on Saturday, October 20th at 10 a.m. The starting line is at 77 Central Avenue, in front of Banker’s Insurance, with parking in the lower lot of 77 Central Ave.
This year’s course includes a loop past Thomas Wolfe’s grave in Riverside Cemetery, and a jaunt along the scenic Reed Creek Greenway developed by RiverLink! In fact, a portion of the proceeds will go to RiverLink to help complete the Reed Creek Greenway at the old Health Adventure site paralleling Broadway. Also to help the greenway along, RiverLink is selling “Deeds of Support” – visit riverlink.org and go to the store — for $50 a foot. It’s tax deductible and comes with a “Deed of Support” suitable for framing inscribed with the buyer’s name. It also makes a great gift.
RiverLink is supporting the race by providing volunteers. Anyone interested in helping out with the race, should contact RiverLink’s Director of Volunteer Services Dave Russell at 252-8474, ext. 11 or dave@riverlink.org. Volunteers are needed for Friday Pre-Registration/Packet Pick Up (4-7pm), Saturday Registration/Packet Pick Up (8:20-9:50am), course marshals, water stations, food service, finish line, set up, and clean up.
The $30 registration includes a cotton long-sleeve shirt, French Broad River Beer, pizza, music by The Glampas, and a sundry of fabulous awards/raffle items! All military personnel, all county and city workers, including but not limited to K12 teachers, police and fire officials receive $10 discounts. Groups of 10 or more register for $15/person. See website for details.
