RiverLink is excited to announce that Gray Line Trolley has signed on to provide a shuttle between the downtown area and RiverLink’s RiverMusic in the River Arts District, with the first concert on Friday, May 24. This is being accomplished in cooperation with the Asheville Downtown Association. The trolley will loop between the event at 144 Riverside Drive (map) and two stops in downtown – one near two city parking garages on Haywood Street and at the Aloft Hotel.
The inaugural RiverMusic concert series in 2012 was a rousing success and once again, RiverLink is hosting a series of live music performances beside the river. Officially known as “RiverLink’s RiverMusic,” the series consists of five concerts at the RiverLink Sculpture and Performance Plaza, at 144 Riverside Dr. in the River Arts District of Asheville. Gates open at 5 p.m.
The Haywood Street trolley stop is at approximately 62 Haywood, directly across from where Vanderbilt Place intersects with Haywood (map). It’s convenient to both the Civic Center Parking garage as well as the Rankin Avenue garage. A little further south, the Aloft Asheville Hotel stop is at 51 Biltmore Avenue (map).
The shuttle will run non-stop from 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., and will not leave anyone stranded in the River Arts District.
RiverMusic was inspired by a grant from the Chaddick Foundation and is also sponsored by Pisgah Investments, Prestige Subaru, Ingles Markets, Sundance Power Systems, Inc. and five local craft brewers: Highland, Pisgah, Sierra Nevada, New Belgium and Asheville Brewing Co.
Attendees are asked to leave cars at home and bike, hike, or even paddle to these solar-powered, multi-modal events.
