The City of Asheville invites the community to the final informational workshop for the River Arts District Transportation Project on Thurs. Dec. 6 from 4-7 p.m. at the Dr. Wesley Grant Sr Southside Center on 285 Livingston Street. This meeting is informal and citizens are welcome to drop in at any time.
The consultant team and city staff will present the study process to date and will be available to discuess and gather feedback from members of the public on the Recommended Alternative. The proposed improvements and thie impacts will be evaluated in a Categorical Exclusion Report which is expected to be complete by Dec. 31.
Project Description: The purpose of the project is to improve a 2.2 mile section of Riverside Drive and Lyman Street in the River Arts District. The proposed improvements include wider roadways to accommodate on-street parking, curb and gutter, sidewalks and bicycle lanes for the traveling public and visitors to the River Arts District. Additional right-of-way acquisition and the relocation of businesses will be required to construct the project. A riverfront greenway is also proposed along the corridor.
