Preventing identity theft is topic of class offered at local libraries

January 4, 2017

Once again in 2017 Buncombe County Public Libraries and OnTrack WNC Financial Education & Counseling are joining forces to offer FREE financial education classes.  The classes are part of a nationwide initiative through the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) which capitalizes on the unique role of libraries as places where people go for community and for information.

The financial education opportunities are FREE and open to the community.  Preregistration is required. Call OnTrack WNC at 828.255.5166.

Four “Preventing Identity Theft”classes will be offered at library locations conveniently located throughout the community:

  • Wednesday, January 11th from 6:00-7:30 pm, West Asheville Library – 942 Haywood Rd. –  Asheville
  • Thursday, January 26th from 6:00-7:30 pm, Pack Memorial Library – 67 Haywood St. – Asheville

In the Preventing Identity Theft classes, an OnTrack WNC certified financial educator will review how identity theft happens, offer alerts about prevalent fraud and scam techniques, provide tips for securing your identity, and explain resources available to victims of identity theft.

Preregister to attend and become eligible for the $25 VISA gift card drawing by calling OnTrack WNC at 828.255.5166.
