Asheville NC (9/12/2024) – Community leaders across Asheville gathered at East Asheville Fire Station 9 today to kick off their campaign in support of Asheville’s 4 bond referenda on the ballot this fall.
Voters will be asked to approve 4 separate bond issues totaling $80 million. The bonds will be used to support transportation, housing, parks and recreation facilities and public safety facilities.
“There may be a few races this fall that get more attention,” Mayor Esther Manheimer deadpanned, “But this is a vote where we can all agree. Vote yes for Asheville Bonds so we can prepare for the future and move Asheville forward.”
The mayor was joined by advocates for each of the bond areas. While each representative noted their passion, they all applauded the balanced proposal and emphasized the importance of supporting all four bonds.
The campaign to support the bonds is organized by the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce and led by a workgroup of community volunteers.
“This is a long ballot this year, and it is crucial that voters go all the way to the end and vote yes for Asheville bonds,” said Asheville Chamber president Kit Cramer.
