Asheville, NC – In conjunction with the Economic Development Coalition for Asheville – Buncombe County (EDC), Advanced Manufacturing Solutions, Inc. announces the grand opening of its operations in Candler, with an investment of $1.1million and the addition of 36 new jobs over the next three years.
Established by Robby and Carolyn Johannessen, the organization specializes in manufacturing quality, precision-machined, and fabricated parts. The owners capitalized on three decades of experience in private precision machining while developing their new venture. The region’s strong manufacturing tradition heavily influenced the Johannessen’s decision to launch their business in Buncombe County. Robby explains, “We recognized a market need to provide our clients with high quality, American-made products at an affordable cost, and I knew from experience that I could find the necessary work ethic and machining know-how to grow a business like ours.“ The firm currently employs 11 at its facility on Rutherford Road with plans to add an additional eight to 10 jobs this summer.
The Johannessens believed this was the opportune time to launch a business as clients in key industries are emerging from recession. As a specialized manufacturer of small to medium-sized precision and fabricated parts, Advanced Manufacturing Solutions, Inc. services a diverse client base including mass transit, defense, consumer packaging, aerospace, healthcare, and the USPS. The Johannessens hope that Asheville’s central location on the East Coast and reputation for precision machining will allow them to grow and service clients on a global scale. Robby continued, “As a start-up, we can be more nimble, more responsive, and more innovative in serving our customers.”
“We appreciate the entrepreneurial spirit of the Johanessens,” said David Gantt, Chairman of the Buncombe County Commission. “Companies like Advanced Manufacturing Solutions embody the confidence and momentum that will continue to lead our County and our economy toward better days.”
EDC Board Chairman K. Ray Bailey continued, “We look forward to working with the company to achieve its plans for continued growth in the years ahead and we recognize the Johannessens for their leadership, months of hard work, and a true commitment to strengthening this community.”
