Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.
Pre-Op Solutions provides in-home safety consultations for potential modifications and durable medical equipment needs. We assist our clients in preparing for a surgery or change in condition by providing individualized education, ergonomic home adjustments and adaptations, recovery guides, fall prevention strategies, durable medical equipment rentals on select equipment, and much more.
If patients receive proper preoperative care and counsel in their homes, outcomes improve and it can fill potential care gaps in post-op support. According to studies published by the National Institute for Health and Care Research Library, the Centre for Perioperative Care, and by the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses, preoperative care results in improved recovery time, fall prevention, and reduced anxiety around surgical interventions and recovery.
I’m fiercely committed to improving the quality of care for our Asheville community, especially our elderly citizens. I am bringing my 13 years of experience working in hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, and home health care to work for the community.
Our mission is to foster an informed, cost-effective, comfortable, and smoother recovery for you.
We were founded in January of 2023 in the heart of Asheville, and we service Buncombe, Henderson, Madison, and Haywood County.
How did you come up with your idea or concept for your business? How did you decide on a name?
The day that the idea for Pre-Op Solutions was born, I was helping out a dear friend of mine’s Mother to change her bandage at home after her hip replacement. While I do have long term experience in home health PT, I was not the one treating her. We were chatting about all the things she wishes she knew ahead of this surgery that could have made things easier, and I of course completely agreed with her concerns. I expressed to her how this has really been one of my greatest hopes for health care…that we create ways to better prepare people on a preemptive or pre-op basis, which in turn improves recovery outcomes. From there, my business came to life and discovering the name felt so right, that improving post-op outcomes comes from developing Pre-Op Solutions.
What makes your business unique in its field?
Pre-Op Solutions is unique in its field because traditional home health care companies do not, and cannot, provide all of the services we offer. We not only provide in home safety consultations and durable medical equipment rentals, we are also able to provide the time, experience, and top notch service we feel our clients deserve in their healthcare.
During your first year of business, what was the greatest lesson you learned?
The greatest lesson we’ve learned so far this year, as this is still our first year, is prioritizing what gets me closer to my goal of creating a successful business that truly improves the quality of healthcare our clients receive. What that looks like is being willing to ask for help, being open to suggestions, putting new opportunities first, and diving all the way in taking big risks for the possibility of big rewards.
Where do you see your business in the next year? The next five?
In the next year, we hope to continue building our brand here in Western North Carolina. In the next five, we hope to expand our services areas into more locations along the East Coast. Our mission is to become the premier provider of pre-op home care.
Why did you decide to join the Chamber?
I have decided to join the Chamber in hopes of fostering new relationships with other business owners, gaining new connections, and becoming more involved in the business community here in the Asheville area.
What is your favorite part about doing business in the Asheville area?
My favorite part of doing business in the Asheville area is getting to develop relationships with our clients who live locally. There is something really personal about clients allowing you in to their home in a time that they’re likely more vulnerable that really develops a relationship built on trust and compassion. We also love the opportunity to see new places in the area all the time! It is a lovely chance to explore.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about your business?
We really do love what we do at Pre-Op Solutions. We believe we can make a positive change in the care our clients receive, and strive to give an excellent experience.
