Tell us about your business and the role you play in it.
I am the owner and President of Personal Growth and Transformation LLC, which I launched in November of 2020. I provide public speaking coaching services to individuals who want to elevate their comfort level and effectiveness when speaking in public. Whether it’s an elevator speech or a full-blown presentation, I help individuals refine their presentations, empowering them to deliver their speech with confidence and maximum impact.
How did you get your idea or concept for the business? How did you decide on a name?
Through decades of experience in various corporate management positions, I recognized a need to elevate the communication skills of young ambitious professionals who wanted to advance into management position, but struggled when speaking in professional settings. They had the operational talent to succeed in the organization, but lacked the confidence to speak clearly, concisely, and compellingly. Through my coaching business, I utilize the power of public speaking as a training ground to help aspiring professionals discover the confidence and skills to show up, speak up, and shine.
What makes your business unique in its field?
I provide personalized one-on-one service to my clients at a cost far less than alternative public speaking training programs, providing maximum value for their investment. The first session is complementary. I also continue to work with my clients on an as-need basis, even after they’ve completed the program.
During your first year of business, what was the greatest lesson you learned?
The greatest lesson I learned during my first year is the huge impact networking can have on the success of my business. Not only has networking led me to new clients, but it also has led me to resources that helped me market my brand more efficiently and with a higher professional image.
Where do you see your business in the next year? The next five?
While my primary market is geared towards individuals, I intend to expand my market to reach corporate accounts that see the need to develop the professional communication skills of their young, aspiring managers.
Why did you decide to join the Chamber?
I am highly impressed with the Chamber Membership Leadership Team. They seem genuinely interested in the success of all Asheville businesses, regardless of size. The Chamber provides a wealth of resources to help businesses reach and sustain success. The Chamber organizes a variety of events designed to connect business owners and business leaders with one another, which opens the doors of opportunity for everyone engaged in the process.
What is your favorite part about doing business in the Asheville area?
I relocated to Asheville in April of 2020. It’s a much smaller town than other places I’ve lived. I find Asheville to be a progressive, friendly town, vibrant with creative inspiring talent throughout the city. As a new entrepreneur, I feel welcome and fully supported. I’m thrilled and honored to call the beautiful mountains of Asheville my home.
