Angel Medical Center and Mission Health will welcome a new leader on March 7.
Karen S. Gorby, RN, MSN, MBA, CENP, FACHE, will join the hospital as President/Chief Nursing Officer. Former Transylvania Regional Hospital president and current vice president of rural health planning for Mission Health, Bob Bednarek, has served as interim president since the August departure of former Angel Medical Center president, Jim Bross.
Gorby is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE). For nearly three decades she has served hospitals and health systems in Ohio, most recently as administrator and chief nurse officer at Mercy Memorial Hospital in Urbana, Ohio. She previously held leadership positions at Springfield Regional Medical Center in Springfield, Ohio, and Kettering Medical Center in Kettering, Ohio.
She will report to Kathy Guyette, MSN, RN, NEA-BC, Mission Health’s Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and President, Regional Member Hospitals. Until Gorby’s arrival, Bednarek will continue as interim president.
“We are so pleased to welcome Karen Gorby to our community and to the Mission Health family,” said Guyette. “Her extensive experience in critical access and small community hospital environments will be an asset. We are confident of a bright future under her leadership.”
Gorby received her MSN from Saint Josephs College in North Windham, Maine, and her MBA from Wright State University in Fairborn, Ohio.
