National Disability Employment Awareness event scheduled for Oct. 22

September 23, 2014

The Asheville Unit of the

N.C. Div. of Vocational Rehabilitation

invites you to a celebration of the

National Disability Employment Awareness Month

WEDNESDAY OCTOBER 22 9:00-12:00

8 Barbetta Drive, Asheville, NC 28806

In 1945, as World War II ended, a pressing concern of congress was how to assist military servicemen suffering from combat injuries in regaining employment upon their return to civilian life.  In October of that year, what would become NDEAM was enacted.

Each October, Vocational Rehabilitation offices throughout the country acknowledge our foundation with a celebration to highlight our support of this effort.  The intent is to inform businesses on how to benefit from this untapped labor force.

This is an opportunity to teach, learn and become informed. Teach VR and other service providers about what needs you have.  Learn about how a VR Engineer may suggest workplace accommodations for better productivity, and learn about the tax benefits available by hiring VR participants.  Become informed on how VR staff can assist your organization with staff development and retention.

Panel Discussion from 9:30-10:00

Light Breakfast Refreshments served 9:30 – 12:00
