Montford Park Players, an Asheville theatrical tradition, is proud to announce their upcoming festival, A Day with Dickens, to be presented with its annual staging of A Christmas Carol, the classic holiday tale by Charles Dickens. The festival and performances will be held at the Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre, located at 92 Gay Street in the heart of the Montford District, from December 10th through the 18th. The festival will run from 3 to 5pm and the show will begin at 5pm on Friday and Saturday afternoons. The festival and performance, like ALL of Montford Park Players’ shows, will be absolutely FREE to attend.
The Hazel Robinson Amphitheatre will be transformed into a tranquil Victorian village. There’ll be crafts and food and fun, fun, fun! It gets capped off at 5pm with a presentation of MPP’s Annual Holiday tradition, A Christmas Carol, by Charles Dickens.
There will be outdoor space heaters and free hot cider and hot chocolate for the wee ones, and mulled wine available for purchase. The place will be lit up, as the season should be, and a festive atmosphere will prevail, despite the presence of mean, old Scrooge.
This festival and performance will be in tribute to our late founder, Hazel Robinson, who started this tradition and loved this season. An all-star cast has been assembled for the show, including MPP’s own Managing Director, John Russell, as Mr. Fezziwig, and Jane Hallstrom as his Mrs., fresh off her acclaimed spin as Julius Caesar. Not to be missed!
Also, please bring along some dry or canned goods to be donated to Manna Food Bank. MPP loves this community and hopes you will help out those in need this season.
