Dr. Donald A. Gajewski Joins Asheville Orthopaedic Associates
Mission Health is pleased to announce the addition of Donald A. Gajewski, MD. Dr. Gajewski joins Asheville Orthopaedic Associates, an affiliate of Mission Health, from the Brooke Army Medical Center Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation in San Antonio, Texas, where he served as an orthopaedic surgeon as well as the Director of the Center for the Intrepid.
“We are honored to welcome Dr. Gajewski to the team of fine surgeons and caregivers at Asheville Orthopaedic Associates,” said Jonathan Bailey, Vice President of Operations, Mission Health. “Dr. Gajewski’s extensive educational research, surgical expertise and professional experience will be an invaluable asset not only to the practice but to the patients of western North Carolina.”
Dr. Gajewski earned his medical degree from Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He completed his orthopaedic surgery residency at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., and later earned his fellowship in musculoskeletal oncology from the University of Miami School of Medicine. Dr. Gajewski is board certified in orthopaedic surgery. He has received several military awards and has been published in numerous peer reviewed, scholarly journals.

Dr. Brian Johnson Joins Asheville Hospitalist Group of Mission Medical Associates
Mission Health is pleased to announce the addition of Brian L. Johnson, MD. Dr. Johnson joins Asheville Hospitalist Group of Mission Medical Associates, a Mission Health practice.

Brian L. Johnson, MD, most recently served as a hospitalist physician with Intermountain Medical Group in Salt Lake City, Utah, for some five years. He earned his medical degree from University of Tennessee Memphis College of Medicine in Memphis, Tennessee. Dr. Johnson later completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. Dr. Johnson is board certified in internal medicine.
“I place high value in knowing a patient and a little bit about their life before I dive right into diagnosing their current physical condition. I see patients as individuals and always work to treat each person with the utmost of respect,” said Dr. Johnson. “I am been married for 11 years and have two young children. I enjoy numerous outdoor activities such as nature photography, soccer, golf, mountain biking, backpacking, fly fishing and skiing”.
Dr. Samuel Trent Hester Joins Asheville Hospitalist Group
Asheville Hospitalist Group of Mission Medical Associates, a Mission Health practice, is pleased to welcome Samuel Trent Hester, MD.
“It is our pleasure to welcome Dr. Hester to the strong group of physicians and caregivers at Asheville Hospitalist Group,” said Angie Wills, Vice President, Clinical Programs, Mission Health, and Interim Vice President, Mission Medical Associates Operations. “We are pleased that he chose to practice with us and anticipate that Dr. Hester’s talents and abilities will be an asset for both the practice and for the western North Carolina community.”
Dr. Hester earned his Medical Degree from West Virginia University in Morgantown and later completed his Internal Medicine residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
“I genuinely care about each of my patients and aspire to always treat them with the care and respect they each deserve,” said Dr. Hester. “Some of my hobbies and great interests include reading, hiking, golfing, racquetball and playing the guitar.”
