Mission Children’s Hospital moves back home

January 20, 2015

After spending more than eight months caring for pediatric patients on the fifth floor of Mission Hospital, Mission Children’s Hospital has returned home to the newly renovated unit of the third floor.

This renovation provides many improvements to Mission Children’s Hospital including family-requested amenities, such as laundry facilities, lobby area and nourishment stations.  Other improvements include decentralized nursing and support care close to patient rooms, and upgraded playrooms.  Enhancements for safety, including a separate unit for pediatric oncology patients, have also been implemented.

“The main reason for this renovation is for the benefit of our patients.  We want them to always have the safest, highest quality care when they have to be here,” said Susan Mims, MD, MPH, Vice President Mission Health and Medical Director Mission Children’s Hospital. “We appreciate everyone’s patience and support during this renovation.”

This area has restricted access to ensure infant and child security. The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) remains under construction.
