Junior League of Asheville announces Volunteer-A-Thon – Apr. 16th

March 15, 2016

The Junior League of Asheville is pleased to announce their 2nd Annual Volunteer-A-Thon will be held on April 16th at four locations throughout the Asheville area. The Volunteer-A-Thon will bring active and sustaining League members as well as community volunteers together through hours of service with area nonprofits. The funds raised from this event will directly support the programs of the Junior League of Asheville.

Junior League of Asheville President, Kristi Goodrum, had this to say about the event: “We are so grateful to have the opportunity to partner with four local organizations for our second annual Volunteer-A-Thon. This day of service gives members of the Junior League of Asheville the opportunity to experience and share our Mission with our community partners.”

Volunteers will contribute their time and effort at four diverse locations:

  • Claxton Elementary, where members will landscape and provide a general cleanup of the school and grounds.
  • Helpmate, where members will perform yard work, paint, and clean up at the domestic violence shelter.
  • Manna FoodBank, where members will sort and assemble food packs.
  • Black Mountain Home for Children, where members will assist this residential community for youth and children.
The Junior League of Asheville is currently seeking donations and volunteers for this event.   Donations can be monetary, or in the form of supplies needed to complete the projects on April 16th. Supplies needed include painting, gardening, and cleaning supplies. Please call Junior League of Asheville Headquarters at 828.254.5608 to coordinate pick up or drop off your items.  Donations will be accepted through April 15, 2016.
