Junior League announces new board of directors

The Junior League of Asheville is proud to announce their Board of Directors for the 2015-2016 year.  The Junior League of Asheville is a volunteer, non-profit women’s organization that has been serving the Asheville area and surrounding communities since 1925.   The organization is committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the potential of women, and improving the community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable.

Some of the Junior League of Asheville’s past partners include the ABCCM Food Pantry, the American Red Cross, MANNA Food Bank, Children First/Communities in Schools, Helpmate and the YWCA.   The local Junior League is part of a larger organization, the Association of Junior Leagues of International Inc., which includes 295 Leagues throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and the United Kingdom.  The Association of Junior Leagues International consists of approximately 160,000 women, around the world, all working for positive change in their communities.

Member-at-Large:  Makenzie Sammons

Nominating Chair:  Amelia Buchholz

Corporate Secretary:  Lara Weaver

Sustaining Advisor to the Board:  Ann Goosmann

President Kristi Goodrum had this to the say about the incoming board:  “As President of the Junior League of Asheville, I am excited to welcome the 2015-2016 Board of Directors and am honored to be a part of this amazing group of women.  Each board member brings a fresh perspective and unique experiences to the table; resulting in a cohesive movement as we connect, plan and execute projects throughout the Asheville community.  Each board member has elected to donate her time, energy, and resources to making the Junior League of Asheville a catalyst for positive change within our community and I could not be more grateful.”
