The Chamber was pleased to see the community move one step closer to having the I-26 Connector Project completed with the Buncombe County Commission’s unanimous support of the resolution calling on the NC Department of Transportation to construct a $230 million I-26 connector in their March 18 meeting.
The Chamber would like to thank the members of the I-26 working group and former Chairman of the Board and Asheville Mayor Lou Bissette for their work in building community consensus over the proposed alternatives. The Asheville City Council plans to take up the resolution at their Tuesday, March 25 meeting. The Chamber will keep you up-to-date as we work to improve the safety and functionality of Western North Carolina’s transportation infrastructure.
The Chamber will continue to advocate for the funding and completion of the project in the 2014 Legislative Agenda.
