Recognizing the strong connection between the athletic community and beer lovers, Highland Brewing will start a running club beginning September 3rd. The HBC Run Club will meet Wednesdays at 6:15pm on the front deck for an out-and-back run culminating in beer and socializing. Woody Wood will provide free live music Wednesdays from 5:30pm-7:30pm, and Avery’s Hot Dog Stand will be on site serving hot dogs and veggie dogs.
The HBC Run Club will focus on community and having fun, while still offering turn-around points to challenge most skill levels. There will be 1-mile, 2.25-mile, and 4.2-mile options. Everyone is encouraged to attend — walkers, families, and friendly dogs (but no pups inside the brewery). “There is a strong tie to craft beer in the Asheville running community, and we want to combine the two while still being accessible and enjoyable for all skill levels. I hope the HBC Run Club will feel this way,” said Molly McQuillan about why she is spearheading the effort.
The club’s announcement comes shortly after Highland’s successful race, the Night Flight, held in July. The race was part of its 20th Anniversary celebration, during which they are releasing 20 anniversary beers.
