“Haunted High” to benefit Asheville High School band – Oct. 31 – Nov 1

October 14, 2014

Proceeds to help replace 30+ year old instruments and fund scholarships

On October 31st and November 1st, students, faculty, and community members will gather to tour the haunted halls of Asheville High School. The tour will enter through the main entrance and take you from the fourth floor down to the first. This family friendly event will raise funds for much needed instruments and two important new scholarships for  college-bound band members. Asheville High School is at 419 McDowell Street, Asheville, NC 28803.

The Haunted High will offer both a “Super Scary” and a “Kid Friendly” option. The Kid Friendly option will include trick-or-treating, balloon art, and face painting. Tickets may be purchased online at www.ashevillehighbands.com. Tickets purchased in advance may be used as a Fast Pass. Doors open at 10pm on Friday the 31st, and 7pm on Saturday the 1st. Both nights will run until midnight.

Super Scary – $10
Kid Friendly – $5

Tickets may also be purchased at the door.

“Our students work very hard and have achieved great success, often playing instruments which where purchased by the school in the 1980’s. We are thrilled just thinking what they will accomplish once we are able to provide instruments in peak condition,” says Band Director and Asheville City Schools 2014 Teacher of the Year, William Talley.

Two scholarships have been established to support the college goals of hard working Senior
band members. Proceeds from this year’s Haunted High will go toward the William Talley Jr.
Scholarship and the Aimee Wallis Buchanan Memorial Scholarship funds. The Memorial
scholarship honors the life of a very supportive and well-loved band parent who very
unexpectedly passed away in February of 2013.
