Encore Entrepreneur Fair – April 21st

The SBA and AARP present a special Encore Entrepreneur Fair on Monday, April 21, from 8:30 am to 12 noon, at the A-B Tech Enka site – Haynes Conference Center, located at 1459 Sand Hill Road in Candler, NC 28715.

This special event kicks off Small Business Week in the Asheville area and will consist of two segments:

Part I
Panel discussion featuring successful small business owners who will share their experiences starting and succeeding in business:

  • Karen Caruso, Mind Your Business, Inc. – North Carolina Small Business Person of the Year for 2011
  • Carol Koury, Owner, Sow True Seed
  • Maceo Keeling, Owner, Asheville Alliance Finance and Business Accelerators
  • Jeremy Lerner, Owner, Lightform, Inc.


Part II
A special “speed-coaching” session where existing and future small business owners can rotate from table to table in small groups and take advantage of expertise in a variety of subject areas:

  • Business planning
  • Funding
  • Marketing
  • Social media
  • Business organization types


Who should come? Individuals wanting to start or expand a small business in their later years (encore entrepreneurs) are particularly targeted…but all are welcome.

The event begins at 8:30 a.m. with registration, coffee and light breakfast items, and ends at 11:45 a.m.
