  • AdventHealth is hosting an end-of-summer blood drive in partnership with The Blood Connection on Thursday, September 19, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at AdventHealth Hendersonville. The event aims to address the ongoing high demand for blood, as only 3% of the population donates, while 1 in 7 hospital patients require a transfusion. All donors will receive $40 in rewards, and safety protocols will be followed. To donate, individuals must be at least 16 years old and weigh over 110 lbs.   • The 2024 Blue Ridge Pride Festival, themed “Rooted in Liberation,” will be held on September 21st, centering on the legacy of the LGBTQIA+ civil rights movement. Drawing inspiration from the 1969 Stonewall riots and leaders like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, the festival highlights the ongoing fight for queer liberation, particularly for BIPOC, Latinx, and Trans communities. This year’s event prioritizes these groups through performances, vendor scholarships, and BIPOC leadership in the Welcoming Procession, reflecting the festival’s commitment to dismantling oppressive systems and fostering equity for all.   • Eliada’s Fall Festival and 8-Acre Corn Maze will take place on weekends from September 20 to October 27, 2024, in Asheville, NC. This family-friendly event offers a range of autumn activities, including corn cannons, tractor rides, a bouncy pillow, and an 8-acre corn maze. Event hours are Fridays from 3 PM to 7 PM, Saturdays from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Sundays from 10 AM to 6 PM.   • The 57th Bascom Lamar Lunsford Mountain Music Festival will take place in Mars Hill, NC, on October 4-5, 2024, in a new location due to campus construction. The festival begins Friday evening with a free ballad swap at Moore Auditorium, featuring local ballad singers. Saturday’s events run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the soccer field along the Dr. W.   • Mission Health has appointed Jeffrey Brown as the new CEO of CarePartners Health Services. Brown brings over 20 years of healthcare experience, previously leading post-acute care and rehabilitation at ScionHealth’s Kindred Hospitals in Florida. CarePartners, part of Mission Health, provides rehabilitation, home health, adult care, and hospice services, offering a comprehensive post-acute care continuum. Brown succeeds Tracy Buchanan, who retired after 36 years of service.   • DMJPS PLLC has announced the appointment of Drew Haddock and Mike Gillis as Co-CEOs, effective November 1, 2024. They will share the role for one year, after which Drew will become sole CEO.
