Mountain Housing Opportunities (MHO) has announced Geoffrey Barton as the affordable housing non-profit’s new President and CEO. Geoffrey replaces Scott Dedman, who retired in early August after 30 years in the role. Geoffrey brings significant experience in affordable housing design, development, and financing. He joined the MHO team in 2013 as an Enterprise Rose Architectural Fellow, progressing to become MHO’s Manager of Architectural Services in 2016 and then to his most recent position as Vice President and Director of Real Estate Development in 2020. Under Geoffrey’s leadership, MHO successfully obtained highly competitive low-income housing tax credit awards to support the creation of 346 new affordable apartments in Buncombe and Haywood Counties. Geoffrey consistently demonstrates his commitment to inclusive community engagement, resident-centered development, and environmentally responsible design. Before joining MHO, Geoffrey worked at Van Meter Williams Pollack Architecture in San Francisco, CA, and HH Architecture in Raleigh, NC. He holds a Bachelor of Arts from Wake Forest University and a Master of Architecture from NC State University. Geoffrey is a licensed architect in North Carolina and currently serves as a Commissioner on the City of Asheville’s Planning and Zoning Commission. AdventHealth has welcomed Charles Morlok, MD to its team of hospitalists at AdventHealth Hendersonville. Dr. Morlok joins their team of board-certified physicians caring for patients admitted to the hospital. He brings a long-standing commitment to provide compassionate and individualized care to every patient. Dr. Morlok earned his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from Clemson University in Clemson, SC. He then went on to earn his Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. He most recently worked as a hospitalist at Haywood Regional Medical Center, where he was recognized as the 2019 Hospitalist Provider of the Year. Read more.

Asheville Outlets will team with Yoga Nut to host a Wellness Expo on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with booth proceeds benefitting Babies Need Bottoms. The complimentary Expo will provide attendees with various fitness, health, and wellness tools, including a yoga session and a movement workshop focusing on spine and hip mobility for pain prevention.
