Brother Wolf Animal Rescue will host a kitten “baby” shower in preparation for the anticipated 1,500 kittens needing foster care in the greater Asheville area this spring and summer.
The shower is Saturday, April 15, from noon-5 p.m. at Brother Wolf’s Adoption Center located at 31 Glendale Avenue in Asheville. Visit to learn more about fostering kittens, submit a foster application, enjoy family-friendly shower games and watch Trap-Neuter-Return demonstrations. Brother Wolf will also be collecting donations for the kittens.
“The kitten shower is a great opportunity for Brother Wolf to gather supplies for kitten season. Fifteen hundred kittens will eat a lot of food, go through a lot of litter, and require lots of toys, so involving our community in supporting their care is integral to our success in life saving. The kitten shower is a fun way to get our community involved, and teach them about how many kittens are in need,” says Brother Wolf Animal Rescue Adoption Center Manager Audrey Lodato.
Fosters provide temporary housing until kittens are old enough to be adopted. Foster homes are a safe haven for kittens undergoing a required series of vaccinations. Kittens are vaccinated once every three to four weeks until they are 16 weeks of age or older.
Brother Wolf has many different fostering opportunities, including bottle-feeding newborn kittens, socializing feral kittens, and providing safe spaces for nursing mothers with their kittens.
The shower is free and open to the public. Visit Amazon at http://a.co/798P1QD to view the wish list of kitten “baby shower” supplies, as donations are greatly appreciated.
