Broadway leading man and television star Norm Lewis to appear in special benefit performance at Diana Wortham Theatre – Feb. 9th

One of today’s foremost actor-vocalists, Broadway and television star Norm Lewis brings his magnetic personality and smooth vocals to Asheville in a special benefit performance for the Diana Wortham Theatre in Asheville, Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. Tony-nominated for his role as Porgy opposite Audra McDonald in The Gershwins’ Porgy and Bess on Broadway, Lewis has lent his rich baritone to other major roles on Broadway include Billy Flynn (Chicago), King Triton (The Little Mermaid), and Javert (Les Misérables)—playing Javert both on Broadway and in London’s West End production, and in the 25th Anniversary London concert production seen on public television. Lewis currently stars opposite Kerry Washington on the ABC hit series Scandal.

This special benefit performance includes a celebratory post-performance sparkling wine reception and meet-and-greet with Norm Lewis for VIP ticket-buyers.

Norm Lewis has received an Audience Development Committee (AUDELCO) Award for Lead Actor in a Musical, and received Drama Desk and Drama League Nominations and a Helen Hayes Award Nomination for his theatre work. Lewis’s debut solo album, This is the Life! (2008) was released to critical acclaim. On television, in addition to starring as Senator Edison Davis on Scandal, he has either starred in or made guest appearances on All My Children, As the World Turns, Cosby, and Strong Medicine.
