Bigger discounts ahead for Goodwill shoppers

May 14, 2014

Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina has announced a new selling concept for its 1011 Patton Avenue store that is sure to please Goodwill’s many loyal shoppers. The Asheville store now offers all merchandise at a 25% or greater discount over Goodwill’s already low retail store pricing. The 25%-plus markdown will be taken off of everything in the store, every day of the week, all year long.

Goodwill has always been a savvy retailer understanding the importance of rotating merchandise so even its frequent shoppers find new bargains with each visit. Until now, items that didn’t sell during their normal rotation were moved to one of Goodwill’s Outlet stores, where goods are mostly sold by the pound. This new store model, called a Discount Outlet, is a fresh concept for the organization and is designed to offer shoppers an added incentive while generating as much value as possible from donated goods. Customers of the Discount Outlet not only will enjoy additional savings but also will benefit from Goodwill’s standard return policy, not available in the company’s Outlet stores. Customers also will find the same basic layout and ease of shopping familiar from Goodwill’s other retail stores.

“This new concept store is an important component in assuring the sales we need to fund workforce development training, youth services, and other programs that serve more than 36,000 people in northwest North Carolina each year,” noted Jaymie Eichorn, VP of Marketing and Communications of Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina. “Our generous donors and shoppers helped us to place 5,120 people into jobs in northwest North Carolina in 2013 and 1,110 in the Asheville area alone, and we have high hopes that we will continue to have this impact in 2014.”

Goodwill’s Discount Outlet store is located at 1011 Patton Avenue in West Asheville, and is open Monday through Saturday, 1pm to 6 pm.
