Asheville GreenWorks hosts clean-up events in November

Volunteer with Asheville GreenWorks as they make Buncombe County beautiful. Some upcoming November events are listed below:

Schools, Tires, and Playgrounds…Oh My! – Nov. 2nd
On Saturday, November 2nd, Asheville GreenWorks will help Jones Elementary School with tree planting from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Interested volunteers should contact Eric Bradford at eric@ashevillegreenworks.orgor call for details at 254-1776. 

 

Tire Dump Work Day – Nov. 9th

On Saturday, November 9th, join Asheville GreenWorks for the first Tire Dump Work Day as they make history by cleaning up the largest tire dump in the area. Duties include hauling tires out of the river, installing silt fencing, and planting native trees to stabilize the riverbank. 
Volunteers should expect rough working conditions and dress appropriately. Those on land should wear boots, long pants, long sleeves, and layers. Asheville GreenWorks will provide neoprene waders and canoes for volunteers in the river. 
Interested volunteers must be at least 18 years old, sign and submit a release form, be physically able to lift 50 pounds, and have an updated Tetanus shot.

Tire Amnesty Day – Nov. 16th

On Saturday, November 16th, Asheville GreenWorks will host Tire Amnesty Day at Walmart on Bleachery Blvd from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Walmart Foundation. 
Volunteers will accept tires on and off rim at no charge for Buncombe County residents during these hours only.

Pisgah View Playground & Planting – Nov. 22nd
On Friday, November 22nd,  Asheville GreenWorks will assist Pisgah View Apartments and Asheville Design Center with a playground build and planting.
