The public is invited to the dedication ceremony for the Arthur R. Edington Education and Career Center, Saturday, November 1st, from 12 to 1 pm, 133 Livingston St., Asheville.
The Housing Authority is finishing renovations to the historical W.C. Reid Center. They are renaming the building after Mr. Edington, former principal of Livingston Street School ’60-‘69. The building will be a green jobs training and education center. Partners envision the center as a place where people from the surrounding neighborhoods can access education, job training, support services and other resources to help them achieve greater self-sufficiency and empowerment. As such, the renovation of the building itself has provided ongoing opportunities to train and employ locals, especially public housing residents.
This project is funded in part by HUD through a competitive grant the housing authority was awarded and by the City of Asheville. All are welcome to this special event. The event will close with a tour of the facility.
