Amboy Road residential project to move forward

September 15, 2015

Join RiverLink staff and developer Jay Fiano and his team of architects and engineers at RiverLink’s Warehouse Studios, 170 Lyman Street, in the heart of the RAD, on Tuesday September  22 at 5:30 pm to learn  more about the new residential project planned for Amboy Road.   Mr. Fiano and his professional team have been a guest at RiverLink twice in the past to describe the Amboy Road  project to neighbors and answer questions about the project and timeline.  This presentation is a follow up to those previous meetings and everyone is invited.

Amboy Road has been evolving since 1999 when RiverLink purchased the old Asheville Motor Speedway and turned it into Carrier Park, the most used and well loved park and greenway in the city wide system and a vital link in the Wilma Dykeman RiverWay.  RiverLink also acquired the old EDACO junkyard on Amboy Road and is in what it hopes are  the final stages of a phytoremediation of the VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds)  in the soil.

Another new addition to Amboy Road is the Smokey Mountain Adventure facility that will offer a climbing wall, café, bike and boat rentals.  RiverLink has received funding from the Pigeon River Fund to develop a new river access on Amboy Road to help accommodate the increased usage of the river.

Of course Amboy Road has long been home to Asheville Outdoor Center which has been offering canoe rental, camping, a café, gem mining and event space for decades. French Broad Boat Works, Harrin Sand,  Eblen Oil Companies, Wilson Mobile Home Repair and RV Park are but a few of the businesses on Amboy Road which is soon to be home to a new food truck Park and Café on the corner of State Street and Amboy Road.
