Mail Management and Biltmore Press Merger Moves Forward

Colorado based consultant Chuck Blakeman has been recruited for the merger between Mail Management Services and Biltmore Press. Blakeman, of Team Nimbus West, has a no nonsense way of doing business. “I saw two companies that were compatible with a high opportunity for success,” Blakeman says of the merger between the two companies. “They will be able to provide both of their clients with even greater services.” Blakeman is a convention speaker, trade journal contributor and non-profit board member.

"Fun" D a Cure at Asheville's Fun Depot

The American Cancer Society has partnered with Asheville’s Fun Depot this summer to “FUN”D A CURE! Bring your family in to Asheville’s Fun Depot on Monday, August 4 between 5 - 8 p.m.  All guests who mention “FUN”D A CURE will receive two hours of fun for just $15 (regularly $24.99). Each card sold raises $5 for the American Cancer Society for cancer research, education and local programs and services. Grab a bite at the Depot Diner and 10% of your bill will also be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Asheville Savings Bank Promotes Environmental Awareness

Last weekend, Asheville Savings Bank (ASB) distributed flyers with seed paper to fans at the Tourists games. The flyer contained special offers for new customers including a $50 refund for opening “The Best Checking” account and a $250 discount on closing costs for a mortgage. ASB has been at the forefront of community leadership in Asheville supporting initiatives ranging from children services to healthy environmental awareness. ASB representatives will also be passing out the flyers at the North Carolina Apple Festival during Labor Day weekend.

Wheels Through Time Honors Ours Nations Military

The Wheels Through Time Museum in Maggie Valley, NC will be honoring our nations military by paying tribute to those men and women who have served our country, both past and present.  In celebration of our nation’s birthday, the museum will be offering free admission for both veterans and active duty during the entire month of July. 

Asheville Historic Tours

2008 Doors of Asheville

HomeTrust Bank has partnered with Mountain Housing Opportunities as the platinum sponsor to present the 2008 Doors of Asheville art auction scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 6, 6:30 p.m., at The Orange Peel.  Last year, the community helped raise over $45,000 at the Doors of Asheville. Proceeds support MHO’s services of emergency repair and rural rehabilitation, rental development and homeownership, and help MHO serve over 500 households every year..

Tickets on Sale Now for Sir Paul McCartney’s Oratorio

The Asheville Choral Society will open its 08-09 season with Sir Paul McCartney’s major choral work Ecce cor Meum (Behold my Heart) on October 12. This will be the first performance in the U.S. following the work’s Carnegie Hall debut.  Tickets for the Benefit Concert and Celebration Reception are available at ashevillechoralsociety.org or 232-2060.

Free Computer Recycling through Goodwill Industries

Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina announces a new free computer recycling program in the Asheville area.  This program, called Reconnect, is a partnership between Dell Inc. and Goodwill Industries.  Reconnect is a comprehensive electronics recovery, reuse and environmentally responsible recycling opportunity for businesses and consumers.
